My Nightmare Turned Dream: A Mother's Advocacy Story
Every 120 seconds, a child is wrongly taken from their family. Mine were taken 12 years ago... (source: ACES Connection). My heart shattered into pieces.
The Dream:
During darkest nights, I held onto a dream: reuniting with my children and creating systemic change to prevent others' suffering.
Actions Taken:
1. Advocacy Work: I started attending community events, sharing my story, and connecting with fellow affected parents.
2. Support Group Creation: Our support group grew from 1 to 13 members in just weeks – a safe space for sharing experiences and advice.
3. Transparent Guardianship Act Support: I drafted a blog post (now live!) urging followers to demand legislative change for guardianship transparency and accountability.
Progress and Hope:
Though my children remain separated from me, I see hope:
1. Growing Support Group: More parents join us every week.
2. Legislative Awareness: My blog post sparked engagement and calls to local representatives.
